Introduction:
This knowledgebase addresses the issue with File Explorer crashing/very slow performance when you are not connected to the RBGE network.
Resolution:
You will need to update the computer policies on your RBGE computer.
Pre-requisite: The RBGE computer will need to be on site.
- Log into your computer and ensure that you are connected to the RBGE network either via the Botanic Staff Wifi or using a network cable.
(If you are having issues connecting to the staff Wifi, please refer to the knowledgebase article: Unable to connect to Botanic Staff Wifi) - Restart your computer via Start > Power Icon > Restart
- Please be patient as it may take a few minutes for the computer to restart and update your computer polices.
- Log into the computer when you see the log in screen.
- (Optional) You can test if the policies have been updated correctly by disconnecting the computer from the internet by un-plugging the network cable and/or switching off your Wifi.
Any mapped under This PC will show as disconnected and file explorer will not crash or have slow performance.
