How Do I Use Self-Service Password Reset?
Last Updated a year ago

Self-service password reset (SSPR) allows you to reset your password and regain access to your account in the event of forgetting your password without having to contact service desk. To use this feature, you must have at least 2 separate methods of multi-factor authentication configured. You can use a notification to a personal email address as one of these methods. To set up additional methods or verify existing ones, please go to https://aka.ms/mysecurityinfo

Resetting a Forgotten Password

When you get to the prompt to enter your password, simply click the 'Forgotten my password' link underneath the prompt.

You'll then be prompted to enter a CAPTCHA (not case sensitive) and then select two authentication methods. Note that each device can only be used once, so you cannot have both a text and call to the same phone.

Once your identity has been verified, you can then set a new password.

Note that if you just want to change your password and can still remember your current one, simply click the Change Password link at https://myaccount.microsoft.com
